A death (or end of life) doula provides non-medical emotional, spiritual and physical support to individuals who are transitioning to death, their loved ones or just anyone contemplating their own mortality. This is not something you need to wait for a terminal diagnosis to begin as none of us truly know when our last day will come. There are great benefits that come with looking ahead and considering what may be important to us and to our loved ones.

The word “doula” originates from a Greek work meaning “woman of service”, and was adopted by those guiding women through their birthing experience. This profession is not new by any means although it is currently going through a strong re-invigoration. The practice of caring for the ill and dying is an ancient communal human experience that our ancestors and cultures around the world knew well; with women in particular standing at the forefront of life’s greatest transitions.

Central to the doula’s role is non-judgemental holistic support that empowers individuals to be as educated as possible about their options and rights. We work to create and hold space for whatever our client is experiencing and connect them with the real time support available in the local or non-local community. Whether its advanced directives, funerary options or just all-around support at home or in a facility, my purpose and calling is to bring beauty and meaning back to the end of life. We will all die, and coming to a deeper relation with this realization can help us live more intentionally.

I specialize in ancestral connection and re-connection as well as dream sharing and containment to help you better understand who and what you may be preparing to unite with beyond this life. These stories and experiences can also provide a great container for comforting our loved ones who will be going through their own process of anticipated loss and grief. Throughout my life I have experienced a profound connection with the less seen, spiritual medium that contains life as well as receives it throughout cycles. I look forward to offering a non-judgemental, non religious mirror through which to better view your larger soul life and what may be most important moment to moment.
